River View

Lessons in Landscape Appreciation

I was gazing at the river, taking a breather and a photo or two, when a man walked by. He looked at me and my camera and informed me, almost relieved, that this view of the river is very important for the people around here. It is a sujet for many photographers. And so I should hang in there and go on. I was a bit puzzled by this sudden interlocution but somehow, indeed it felt like an encouragement, well, even if the river had not as such been the subject of the photos that I was taking then … rather it was the fact of standing near that river and wondering about it … Alas, thanks to the passer by, may be this time the photo was for the record or the dialog, rather than for the image … but nevertheless a photo of the river.
